This professional certificate is one of the first international counseling certificate programs of its kind. Participants will gain the expertise and skills necessary to support students who are interested in applying to colleges outside of their home country.
The basics:
- Intended audience: School counselors, college counselors, and IECs who are:
- Based in the U.S. and advise students who are interested in pursuing international universities;
- Based outside of the U.S. who advise international students who are interested in applying to U.S. universities;
- Based at international schools and advise students who are interested in applying to universities in several different countries.
- Format: On-demand.
- This course includes seven interactive modules consisting of a mix of videos, reading, discussion boards, and more.
- Cost: $150 for NACAC members, $200 for nonmembers.
- A 20 percent discount is available for offices of four or more participants registering for the same course.
- Estimated completion time: 16 hours.
- Participants have six months to access and complete the course in NACAC Learn.
- Upon completion: 16 continuing education credit hours, a completion certificate, and a digital badge.
Course description:
This counselor-tested, self-paced course is for secondary and independent counselors seeking to round out their counseling knowledge. You will gain the expertise and skills to successfully support students who are interested in applying to colleges outside of their home country. The content in these short, topic-based modules is thoroughly updated each year to reflect the latest information on how to advise students on pursuing a degree abroad. Participants will know upfront what to expect regarding grading rubrics and timing for completing quizzes, assignments, and papers.
