NACAC’s inaugural Global Universities Fair arrives in London, U.K., this fall
The event on November 11 is hosted by Northeastern University, London.
With universities seeking more support to engage with prospective international students, NACAC will hold an inaugural Global Universities Fair this fall on November 11. Hosted by Northeastern University London, this event extends NACAC’s signature fair experience to an audience outside of North America seeking to connect with global and U.S.-based institutions.
The event will include exhibiting institutions and panel discussions for students and families. Separate programming is planned where university advisors and school counselors can participate in networking opportunities, a counselors’ college fair, and more.
“The largest number of NACAC members outside of the U.S. are in the U.K., and we’re constantly looking for ways to curate spaces for professional learning, growth, and connections,” said Angel B. Pérez, NACAC CEO. “We want to extend NACAC’s expertise and support in tangible ways while collaborating with members to reimagine international engagement.”
Interest among students in Europe to enroll in U.S. universities grew by more than nine percent last year, according to data from The Open Doors Report on International Education Exchange. The fair aims to also help with the global engagement disrupted by the pandemic.
Attendees will be invited to speak with university representatives and listen to a presentation on the university search and application process across popular destinations. Another presentation will feature NACAC CEO Angel B. Pérez moderating a panel of university admission representatives discussing university affordability; return on investment; employability; and access, inclusion, and belonging.
Northeastern University London provides an ideal setting for this inaugural event. The university has redefined the global university, expanding co-op and other experiential learning opportunities to more than 128 countries and creating new educational and research partnerships that align with the increasingly global nature of higher education.
“As a truly global university with campuses on two continents, Northeastern is dedicated to serving the world’s learners, no matter where they come from,” said Satyajit Dattagupta, chief enrollment management officer at Northeastern University London. “Northeastern University London is the perfect setting to bring students and families together for the first Global Universities Fair.”
Deciding to hold the inaugural Global Universities Fair is part of NACAC’s effort to reimagine its college fairs, a process that began with several Spring 2023 College Fairs and will continue in the fall.
“As the world’s largest association dedicated to college access, we feel a tremendous sense of responsibility to provide intentional spaces where global student mobility is cultivated,” Pérez said. “Despite the headwinds facing many students who would like to study in other countries, the future of education is global. NACAC is determined to help students embark on their journeys.”
